It's Not My Thing ϟ

YAY or NYAY?

Last week, I finally succumb to the hype called ‘WATTPAD’. Personally, I really think na pambata at pang-jejemon lang ang site na iyon. I am not judging them but merely stating what others saw and felt when they've tried reading some stories there. At dahil wala naman akong kaalam-alam kung ano ba ang magandang basahin sa site na iyon, I asked my online friends to suggest some. I said I only want to read THE BEST, so they better recommend a worthy read.  They are all excited telling me their faves and best of the best works and I was busy taking note of each and every one of it. They all seem to have a common denominator - they all love, rave, praise, fangirl, and gush over this particular writer and her ‘yummilicious’ heroes.  I got intrigued and my inner goddess got curious, and so I decided to give her the privilege to pop my cherry on that department.
Let’s just call her CAMPROCK.
And so, my nightmare err I mean my reading marathon featuring her works began. Hmm.  I noticed she’s using first person pov, and even tho I don’t like to read works written that way, I still gave her the benefit of the doubt.  I tried, I really tried hard… my hardest to understand to like the first of her story that I read but it’s no use. On my 5th chapter, I stop and drop the whole thing. Ang linaw ng isip ko before ako nagbasa, pero habang nagbabasa na ako, biglang gumulo. I don’t know why they worship this story but it definitely didn’t work for me.  Too many misused words, grammar glitch, no concrete plot, too many inconsistencies, and the lines felt like they were just grade schoolers. The writer was not able to pull of the first pov style. Di niya nagamit ng tama. Migash. I cannot. Hahaha. Maybe because her readers are within 14-16 age bracket and they’re in that stage na konting kibot lang kilig na. Konting ‘baby’ endearment, heaven na. OR they’re just fascinated and crushing on the character representation used by the writer.  Mas kikiligin ka nga naman kapag may mukha ang hero na binabasa mo especially if that face and body is hot.  Right? So I guess that’s it. Anyway, as to not be rude, I tried again reading another of her works, and still the same. I can’t find the urge to finish it. I don’t do DNF but with this one, I gladly broke one of my sacred rules. I'm really super duper disappointed and prolly won't read another one of her works. But hey, I MIGHT. One last time. I'll try to be open-minded and this time, will try to finish one. 3rd time might be lucky. x
Siguro nga kanya-kanya lang tayong preference. They may like what I don’t. Simple as that. But as for me, I don’t based my dislikes on feelings alone.  Kung ayaw ko sa isang story, may mga konkretong dahilan iyon.  I really would like to give a review of the ones I have read but since di nga nagrerespond yata ang writer sa posts and tweets, what’s the point? Di niya rin naman mababasa. So she will not know and take note of the reader's problems with her works. Sige, mabuhay ka sa mundong ikaw lang mag-isa. Lol. But maybe, I will do it. One of these days kapag napilit ko ng tapusin ang nasimulan ko. Para fair naman.

Example 1.
Chapter 3, they’re doing this school dance and the girl thought she was asked by her crush to be his partner when in fact, it’s the delinquent brother who did. So she got mad, she ran, the badboy followed her, and somehow he confessed his love. The end of chapter 3.

Chapter 4, started by the heroine talking, it did not pick up to where it ended. And it so happens na 2 years na pala ang lumipas and it was not even stated. Based on how the heroine thinks and talks about the incident, it was like it happened yesterday. Kung di pa minention ng heroine after a lot of scenes na 2 years  nap ala ang lumipas then I wouldn’t even know. LOL. A lil not or a paragraph something that tells us it had been 2 years would suffice don’t you think? Para naman di nganga ang nagbabasa.  Ako pa naman yung  reader na metikoloso sa mga detalye. Hahaha.

So, I guess it's NYAY for me.

As usual, late post. And I feel like a slacker because I haven't read more than 10 books this month. Can you imagine that? It's like I've lost my reading mojo. And it could have been worse if I hadn't read HoO by Nalini Singh. Thank Freya. Kaleb revived my inner goddess, err I mean my love for reading.  So before I forget, here's the recap of the few books I've managed to finish this month.

1. Taming The Storm - Samantha Towle

2.  A Major Attraction - Marie Harte

3. Lonzo - Kat Madrid (re-read)

4. Alice In Zombieland - Gena Showalter ( Recommended and surprisingly my fave read )

5. Heart Of Obsidian - Nalini Singh

6. Shield Of Winter - Nalini Singh

7. Shades Of Midnight - Lara Adrian

And my BOOK BOYFRIEND of the month is KALEB KRYCHEK from Heart Of Obsidian. Big thanks to him. *winks*

Just sayin', ')

I don't know why but I haven't enjoyed reading tagalog fiction lately, esp from the works of the new and not so new writers. Altho there may be some exceptions but I can count them with my fingers. It's not that I find them boring, but it takes more than just simple lines like:

"I can't live without you. I tried. But I simply can't."

"I'm not going anywhere so you better get used to the idea. The sooner. The better.

"You may not need me, but I need you. So. Damn. Much.

Or a cliched plot, or a cutely written banters, or an arrogant hero to make me swoon and fangirl over a story. I guess my standards just went a notch higher. I don't even know what is it particularly am looking for in a novel, it's just that I am immune to those common, mainstream plots, lines, scenes used by the tagalog writers. Tho I am not condemning or judging them all since I'm still a fan of some of those writers. Maybe because I have read too many English novels from different genre, that those lines or plot used by the tagalog writers that's supposed to make me swoon-- did not. It always fell short on the kilig part. It's like I'm looking for something more, or my mind automatically formulate another scene or lines instead of the one I'm reading. Is it normal? Or I am just comparing? Or worse, looking for a fault that isn't even there? Oh no. Exaggeratatingly oa. Haha.

I remember one time (last year, I think) that I attempted to read a work of this particular writer I somewhat knew (tho not personally but fb friends) because she seems a lil bit popular. So I tried but was disappointed. Thank Freya I'm done was my reaction after a week of agony aka finishing her bestseller book. For me, it's just a waste of time and money. I'm not saying it out of hatred, bitterness or anything, but because it's the truth. I always fell asleep while trying to finish that 128 page story. Imagine that? The only thing that got me through is the fact that I don't do DNF. Once I start reading, I always make it a point to finish it. No matter how badly written and how boring the story is. So I won't have hang-ups.

Am I prejudiced? Hypocrite? Bitter? OA? You decide. As for me, I'm just telling the truth. x

Disappointed...

“Blood is thicker than water.”
I don’t think so. Only naïve fools would believe that crap. I once was a fool and believed in it. Never again.  For me, “money is thicker than blood.”

Recently, my sister was harassed or more specifically assaulted by our neighbor. We reported it to our baranggay and hope to settle everything. We do want justice but we’d like to hear their side of the story first and hope for an apology for what they did. But instead of getting one they’ve denied everything. Even after seeing the bruises and scratches they’ve inflicted onto my sister. They’ve made up another story and pointed that my sister started everything which is not true. Anyways, we’ve consulted our cousin which is a lawyer and he agreed to help us if ever we’ll decide to file it in court. HE gave us HIS WORD. We believed him and hang on to it. But after 2 weeks, he renege his promise. Making excuses saying it’s too small a case, can’t it be forgotten and let the Lord above give them karma. Wow. Umasa kami sa salita niya, sa pangako niyang ilalaban niya ang kaso sa korte and to think that we have a very big chance of winning since we’re the aggrieved party plus we have the med cert to back up our complaints. Sigh. So disappointed with him. Un bang ang sabi niyang, “un lang ang babalik-balikan natin sa korte, ung liit ng kasong un, wala tayong mapapala diyan, alam niyo naman anong klaseng tao ang mga iyon.” His words said it all. Even a fool can recognize the hidden meaning of his statement. If there will be no monetary gain for him then he’ll not pursue to defend us with the case. Even if we’re his closest damn relatives. Di kasi siya makikinabang kahit panigan niya kami. My father was the one very affected and so disappointed. He saved his life when he was young and he can’t even grant us this one lil favor to represent us because we don’t have money to pay him? Ghad.  So money is after all a very big motivation and worth more than blood ties.  Nakakaiyak lang kasi mas na-feel ko talaga ang disappointment sa mata ni Papa. At masakit sa akin makita un. We decided to not pursue the case anymore and let bygones be bygones. Even they’ve not apologized to us, we’ll just let the matter slide. And to our cousin, may he rot in hell. I’ve cursed him in my head a million times for letting us down esp. my father.

PS. Lawyers are indeed BIG LIARS.  Can’t trust their words, even if they are your relatives.

PPS. Feeling down. . . :’(

Starting the year.. R I G H T

This is my first ever post this year. As what I’ve mentioned in my wrap-up post last year, I promised myself to read more Tagalog pocketbooks this year. I only made it to 10 or less Tagalog last year and almost 350 English books (paperback and ebooks). Holy crap. Hmm. So, I’ starting the year right by reading Nicka Gracia’s Heirloom series. Oye. This is my first ever of NG’s works so I’m crossing my legs err fingers I mean. Wish me luck. Lol. xo

Anyways, off to read I go. My first on the list is book 2: My Gothic Earrings.

PS. Yeah, I’m so not a sequenced or whatever you call it reader. I’m more on the ‘the feels’ if there’s even such a word. Haha.

Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai Vol. 1 ( Chapter 1 )

I've been in love with KiYo/YokoZen for while a now and I've been re-reading their story for like.. a hundred times already. Lol. Anyway, I just can't help myself for posting at least one volume or maybe all 4 (depends on my mood) of their awesome story and spread the L O V E. I'll be doing it by chapter and there are at least 8 chapters per volume. It does requires patience tho in browsing but I promise it will all be worth it. You'll be left craving for more.

PS. Those who are not a YAOI lover or hates that kind of stuff better not continue reading. *winks* But for those who loves it like I do (apparently so) GO ON and enjoy. x

Title: Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi: Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai – Volume 1
Author/Circle: Nakamura Shungiku, Fujisaki Miyako
Translator: Fencer of September Scanlations
 Credits: Pressbooks and September Scanlations

 CHAPTER 1

"First loves never lastI knew that from the very beginning."

He had at least understood that there was no ‘romantic love’ in the    feelings held for him. Showing him his weaknesses, taking advantage of     him…that was all simply depending on him as a close friend.
And yet, the reason he couldn’t cut away his lingering affections…was because he still held out some small hope. He didn’t have to be his lover—it was enough if he could just be the most important person in his life. It would have been more than enough…if he could just stay close by his side.

YAOI is L O V E

v

Ever since the world begun I have loved YAOI/MM as a genre. Lol. May it be from reading books, manga, or from watching anime's. I don't know when, why it happened. I just woke up one day craving for it. Chos. I mean loving it. So from then on I started reading YAOI manga's, mostly one-shot and then later on I've got hooked into series even tho it's so agonizing to wait for an update. But I understand the lack of translators so I just patiently wait for it. I'm such an angel-in-disguise. Ohmeghed. Maybe I should apply as one? As if I'm fluent in nihonggo. So anyway, that's how it all started and up until now I'm still updated on my fave YAOI series and read some short or one-shot for past-time.

But the real point of this post is to write  some few scenes from PS manga  that I've read a few months ago. HAHA. I can't help but write it down and re-read it over and over and over and over again. I just want to share it to you (as if there's someone reading this blog excluding me) so you'll understand (i hope) why I'm super addicted to this genre. x

WitchEEs Addiction...

Image

I've always been a lover of PNR series whether it's a book or a book-turned tv series kind of stuff. I've been following TVD from S1-S5, The Originals from S1-S2, BATB S1-S2 and my latest conquest was DRACULA now on its S1 E06. So when one of my friend  Rema, tweeted me and recommend this new tv series she's currently hooked, entitled WoEE. I said why not, I'll check it. So last yesterday evening I searched it to see how many episodes are there and what season will be I downloading. And I'm happy  to know that it's still on S1 and only have 10 episodes. So I downloaded it immediately.

Yoz & Diosa: Fanfic Convo

I've been a fan of SRC series esp. Sonia's contribution and one of my favorite couple was Yozack & Diosa. So here it is. Short fan-fic scene. ~

The couple was on their way to Rancho Estate.

Yozack: Called out from the front porch. "Hey honey, you comin' or not?"

Diosa: "Of course," she answered back while walking towards him. "I missed Kiel more than you do," moves in a brisk pace but lost her balance halfway.

Yozack: "Uh-oh," caught her before she kissed the floor and swung her up in his arms. "Gotch. Aw," winced as if in pain. "My back."

Diosa: Her left hand clung to his nape and gently poked his forehead with her right. "Di ako mataba 'no," she pouted.

Yozack: "I didn't say you were hon," he laughed heartily while carrying her all the way to the car. "Pero mukhang nabaliaan ata ako ng buto hon," then slowly put her on the ground in front of the car.

Diosa: Placed both her hands on her hips, eyes narrowing into slits while looking directly at him. "Outside de kulambo ka mamaya," she turned around and pulled open the passenger's seat.

Yozack: "Ah-ah. Not so fast honey," took her upper arm and spun her around to face him.

Diosa: "What?" she glared at him, raising her one perfectly shaped brow.

Yozack: Stared at her intently while slowly lowering his head and gave her a warm, sensual kiss. "I was kidding," pulled her into a tight embrace, sniff her sweet scent and kiss her on top of her forehead down to the tip of her nose. "You're the most beautiful, sexy---"

Diosa: Cut his words with a quick kiss. "Witty and oozing with sex appeal. I know I know. And that you're so lucky to have me," gave him a sweet smile.

Yozack: Scratch his forehead. "Yeah, I can only agree," leaned forward and opened the car door and motioned for her to get in. "Let's go get Kiel before I changed my mind," he winks at her.

Diosa: "As if papayag ako sa gusto mo," laughs as she step into the passenger's seat and closed the door.

Yozack: Shook his head while walking to the driver's seat and started the car.

END. xo

New Look verson 2.0

Here I am again, trying my very best at blogging. Still getting the hang of it tho. *coughs-coughs*  I am looking for that particular blogger theme yet I can't find it so I've been experimenting lately. Huhu. Help meeeeee. Chos. I once saw this particular blog and I desperately want mine to be like that one, sad to say I don't know where to look for it. So I've been overhauling my blog from time to time just to see if other themes will work out for me. And here it goes- new look (again) for my blog. Girly much? HAHA. Forgive me, I just fell in love with the slideshow thingie so I decided to use it. Spend at least 2 days working on it.

As of now, I am contented with my blog's new look but who knows, if I saw something new and something flashy I might be tempted to change AGAIN. Well, can't blame me, after all I am a woman and being fickle-minded is second nature.  Am I right?
