BLURB:
Breaking up was never so hard...
Going undercover at Galaxy Brides as one of the prospective mates to these Viking-like barbarians, Morrigan has no intention of getting chosen to stay. But when Ualan of the Draig picks her to be his wife with the aid of his mystically glowing crystal, it is all she can do to say no.
Waking up from a drug-induced night of torturous and unfulfilling pleasures, Morrigan discovers her spaceship has left without her and Ualan is claiming she is his wife. It’s not exactly the story this reporter had in mind. And to make matters worse, Ualan refuses to take no for an answer.
Being cursed by the gods was never so frustrating...
Prince Ualan is like all others of his race on the male dominated planet of Qurilixen. He is raised to trust the mystic powers around him and when it comes time to marry, he is ready to follow those powers to choose his life mate. When the stubborn, yet achingly beautiful, Morrigan refuses to accept their shared fate and his supreme authority over her, it is all he can do not to break her lovely neck.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is.
MY REVIEW:
This is not what I've envisioned the flow of the story will be. God, expectations hurts. The synopsis is good so even though I am not a fan of sci-fi much less dystopian genre I gave it a go. Sadly no matter how much I wanted, badly, achingly wanted to like the book it did not happen. It started out good, but then when the time the MC met and the hero talking to the heroine on one word, makes me see red and almost.. almost makes me put the book down. I know it was a part of the tradition or chuchu in the story but heck. Sigh. I like the heroine's job btw, and thought she's the sassy, independent woman bu I was wrong. As the story progresses, I did not see a hint of a professional reporter much a woman out of her. Instead all I saw was her immaturity and childish attitude and her being lazy. She doesn't even know how to clean, c'mon. Now I've finally met a TSTL heroine. HAHA. Nuff about her, let's focus on the hero.. or not. I thought he'll redeem my seemingly lost interest of the story but I was wrong (again!). Imagine the hero choking the heroine for uttering a half meant threat. Yeah, pretty much killed my mood. And the book talks about honor so much, valued it so much yet I can't see a trace of it from the hero himself (which I expected since he's a prince) but I guess the writer forgot. Sigh. Moving on, from what I've understood on the heroine's secret mission.. is to investigate whether there'll be royalty on the bride-chuchu thingie, so why the heck was she ranting about getting married if in the first place, it's a known fact that whoever will be chosen among the ladies (including her since she's doing some undercover) sent their will be married... right? (and she's chosen!) Plus I think she signed a contract on it (imagine they're one month being prepared for that!) It seems I am at lost here.. or the heroine is.. She should just go home. Sleep and never wake up. Ugh. So as I goes on with the story, I just became bored. Nothing big happened. She's just practically became a slave (punishment from Ualan for denying him). Boring. Yawns. The heroine doesn't even know anything (cleaning, cooking, washing, etc). Is she a woman? Granted all are being modernized, all are being done by a robot but at least.. she should know the basics. Ugh. Makes me wanna throttle her. Sexual-chem wise? They have it but as I did not like both MC, it felt bland for me. Plus, the hero keeps on holding back even though it's evident that they both wanted each other but because he is paired with a dumb heroine (who would not admit she's his wife-to end it all and proceed with the sexual act already) they both suffered. Full of dumb denial (eye-rolling) On the other hand, I did not see the heroine doing that report she was supposed to do or something related to her job as undercover there.
"You mention this life you have and yet you do not live it. Why did you agree to become a bride?" - Ualan
My point exactly. The idea of her being undercover in the first place is not seen at all. Even her supposed job. I mean, that's the point of the whole story is it? Part of the plot remember? Or the writer forgot that part? Pity. That's one the the reason's why I decided to give this book a try. Sigh again. Seems the heroine enjoyed being a slave. Well, lucky for her.. she seems like one. HAHA. Nonsense banters goes on and poof... she ranked up and became a wife/princess and it ends.. they live happily ever after. (woke up) Oh.. did I fall asleep? What? The end already? Why can't I remember anything? I have an amnesiaaaaaaaaaaaa. LOL.
That pretty much sums it all.
RATING: ★★✰✰✰
MEMORABLE LINES/CONVOS:
None point none. Can't even recall a scene which I like in the story much less a convo or line. Although I kind of liked the kitchen scene wherein Ualan lifted Morrigan to the countertop and let her watch him cook. Found it sweet. Ualan's knowledge in the kitchen makes him somewhat sexy. x
