One Week Date Project: Review

BOOK NAME:  One Week Date Project
AUTHOR: Princess Faye
RELEASE DATE:  August 15, 2010
MAIN CHARACTERS:  France Buencamino, Pia Arguilles
GENRE:  Contemporary Romance
RATING:   ★★★★★ stars

BLURB:

He turned out to be the gorgeous France Buencamino, the guy she rejected back in college for being a playboy.

He offered to help her out. "Date me for a week," anito. "It will give you a brief idea of what romance truly feels like." She thought it made sense so she accepted his offer. But during their "dates," she started to fall for him.

OFF-THOUGHTS:

This is my first-ever book of PF. Before I only knew MC, SSFKA, and then came PF. I was hesitant at that time (way back in college) to buy another writers book. But then, as I was looking through the bookshelf of NBS along with my classmate, I did not find new works of my fave writer so I ask her to find me a book she'll like and I'll buy it. (take note: she doesn't like to read books) After minutes of browsing (I know she's just looking for a nice book cover) she handed me this book. I read the title and I was intrigued. I asked her why that one and she answered 'maganda ang likod' so I read it and voila! I instantly want it. From then on, I became a PFholic. x

'Nuff said, now back to the book itself.

FRANCE BUENCAMINO

The oh-so-hot-good-looking Love Romance Head Editor known as France  who is secretly-pining-and-in-love with Pia (since college). I super like him. Feeling ko ang bango-bango niya. Haha. His attitude, cockiness, and his ways of winning Pia- big like.

PIA ARGUILLES

The sassy-sarcastic-romance-writer who lost her mojo in writing. Halatang may pagnanasa kay France but is hell-bent on denying it. She's the only girl who downright rejected France during college when he courted her.

REVIEW:

First chapter pa lang, hooked na ako. I admit I am really a sucker for sassy-witty-sarcastic heroine and Pia is all that- with cherry-on-top. I like her. The plot is goooood based from the blurb, it was what compelled me to buy it in the first place. (since di ko pa kilala si PF that time) Plus points talaga sa akin kapag maganda ang synopsis, 'yon bang tipong kapag binasa mo it makes you want to read the story asap. Ganoon ang nangyari sa akin at that time. And a big plus if the H/h names are nice, esp the Hero's name. Pangalan pa lang alam mo ng gwapo. So this book passed with flying colors. Although not all books with good blurb and wonderful H/h names automatically have good stories. But this one? Did not disappoint me.
Going back to the story. It talks about France (H) offered Pia (h) for a date project to help her write realistic romantic scenes in her novels. Kulang daw kasi sa romance according to him. He's secretly in love with Pia and plans on making her fall for him during the whole week project and that is also what makes this story appeals to me more. The  hero pining for the heroine. Di ako masyadong fan ng ganoong plot but I find it appealing after reading the first 2 chapters and knowing France's intention. I can certainly put this book on the exception list on that kind of plot.
Moving on with the story (dami ko kasi side comments) pumayag din si Pia sa deal. Although half-hearted and wary of France intention she can't blatantly refuse it if she wants her manuscript to pass. Plus she's curious as to what would France do during their one-week project. Napapaisip din ako ng mga eksena as to various ways France would do. And darn it, he's good. I fell for his name at first read but my heart somersault when I saw him (rather Pia) dismounting from his motorcycle on their first date. Shet.

"The hero looks at the heroine as if she is the only person in the whole world."

The feels. Haba ng hair ni Pia, migash. x

The next succeeding dates France planned are super damn kilig. Simple dates but because of France and his ways, it became fantastic. Haha. I was grinning like a lunatic while reading every scenes and lines. Perfect.

The conflict of course (imposibleng wala) is what you'll find typical (cliche).  Pia misinterpreted what she heard when she saw France talking and embracing a crying woman named Margie. The usual when the heroine jumps to conclusions. But I didn't and couldn't blame her.
So after that, they're both on-the-edge.  France on not knowing how to prolong their supposed to be date project and how to confess his feelings for her. And Pia on thinking that she's fallen for the guy who only dated him because of the project  and is in love with someone else.

After matapos ni Pia ang manuscript niya and it passed she decided to take a vacay for while.  To heal her aching heart. Naturally, France followed her (courtesy of her bff Tricia and France's best friend-Juice) the short-fast-sickeningly-sweet confession follows. And they've got their HEA at last.

BOTTOMLINE:

Because of his book, I became an official PH-holic fanatic.  So if you're looking for a super-sweet-full-of-kilig story with lovable H/h, you should try this one. Guaranteed- you'll love it. Your 37 pesos will be worth every penny.

PS: I love Juice and Tricia. So glad they too have their own story. They both add spice and laughter in the story.

MEMORABLE LINES: (all from France)

"Pick me. Date me for a week and I'll give you an idea of what romance truly feels like."

"Don't look anywhere else but me, Pia."

"I liked her the first moment I laid my eyes on her. But she chose to pretend I didn't exist. I wasn't able to forget her sa paglipas ng panahon. When I saw her again after many years, I promised myself I'd do anything to make her mine."

"Mahal kita. I've loved you for five years and a week. And I probably will for the rest of your days. Kung hindi mo man ako mahal, wala ka ng magagawa. Hindi ako titigil hangga't hindi ka nagiging akin."

Halata bang maka-H ako? Haha. Wala eh. That's life. x

BONUS:

One thing I like about PF is that she doesn't include too many unnecessary side characters who doesn't even have a say or significant part of the story. Sometimes, too many characters got me twisted on reading, the POV used became messy, difficult to identify who's who, and it lessens the H/h scenes and lines. x
