Warlord's Bounty: Review

BOOK NAME:  Warlord's Bounty ( Barbarian Claims #1 )
AUTHOR:  Cynthia Sax
RELEASE DATE:   Dec. 14, 2012
MAIN CHARACTERS:  Khan, Zeta
GENRE:  PNR, Futuristic, Alien
RATING:    ★★✰✰✰ stars

BLURB:

The bigger the bounty, the more dangerous the fugitive.
Khan, a Chamele warlord, has a huge bounty on his head. His enemy is willing to pay an outrageous amount to secure him. Khan wants to be apprehended, especially if the bounty hunter capturing him is a brown-eyed female with razor-sharp daggers and an even sharper tongue. He’ll allow her to subdue him sexually, his passion and prowess not inhibited by restraints, and when she collects her bounty, he’ll collect his revenge, killing his enemy and claiming his little bounty hunter forever.
Zeta doesn't do forever. She captures the worst scum in the galaxy and trades them for credits. Khan is fierce and sexy and the most dominant male she has ever encountered, but he is also a fugitive, and once she sates herself with his body, she'll betray him. That's her job.

MY REVIEW:

I was looking forward to this story upon reading its blurb. I mean, I expected MORE. It was an okay read for me. Nothings unforgettable. Not even the MCs. The premise was good but it could have been better if there's an epic twist and more of MCs banter and maybe a lil on Khan chasing Zeta. It was just too predictable for me. I have guessed already what would happen even if I haven't finished the story yet. I could have been avoided if the writer focus more on developing the MCs character, esp. Zeta. She was described as a fierce bounty hunter who have a soft spot for the needy. She knows nothing about love.. right? There could have been many better scenarios that could have been highlighting her and how Khan would break her hard penetrable guards. It is also told that Khan is a Chamele warrior who can recognize his mate upon seeing and smelling her but it wasn't being highlighted in the story. I just thought that Khan had a crush on her that soon grows into love. I know he keeps on saying she's his, but how the heck should I know that? It wasn't told, right? The writer just presumed we'd know based on the hero's thoughts. Pugh. That lack of mating thingie highlight kind of makes me lose interest. That was one part I like in reading PNR books. The way the writer captures the readers' attention, interest and making them believe the whole process of finding a mate/bride/partner true and romantic, that how it was so different from humans finding their love ones. It must have that certain primal, intense, deep passion. Sigh.
The love scenes was okay. Although it did not satisfy me. I did not feel it. The connection between the MCs. It did not show in their love scenes. XD
I don't know if I'm going to read another installment in this series. I might. Only time will tell.

MEMORABLE LINES | CONVO:

Altho not so memorable but I just quoted some lines that I like.

"You may not need me but I need you." - Khan

"I took all of you."
"You took too much of me."
