BLURB:

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

I am not really a big fan of YA, even if it's combined with PNR. It will always be YA (for kid stuffs only) for me. Haha. I'm not kidding. It's really what came first to my mind when looking at books and seeing it classified under YA. I spared myself reading books under that genre (with the exception of HP and Twilight... I guess). But even if I did enjoy those, it never fall into my most read, most fave, and go to go genre. So when I stumble upon OBSIDIAN (thru a facebook fan page of my fave blog) when they posted a quote from that book I got curious. I immediately check it out and find it appealing even for a NON-YA reader like me. It helps that the reviews are awesome and the quotes are very very good. I am one of those readers who read reviews and quotes before I even try reading a particular book (that aside from my fave writers where I would read without further convincing). I've also heard great feedbacks and recs from blogs I'm following about this particular YA series (Obsidian being the 1st book). So I give it a try, and holy cow! OMFG. I was soo happy with my decision to give it a go with this book. This is what they call as PURE YA GOLD.

THE STORY:

After the death of his father, Katy and her mom moved to West Virginia to forget and start their new life. It was difficult being the new kid in town. But later on, she got to know their next-door-neighbor (twins) Dee and Daemon Black. Dee's friendly but her twin brother is the exact opposite- stab-worthy and very much a deuce. After several not so good encounter with the eerily set of twins, their math professor- she kind of felt weird and seeing weird things. Plus there is always that murmurs going around and constant display of revulsion and fear whenever Dee. Daemon, and the other set of twins are around. But an attack from a guy (turned out to be an ARUM) changed everything. Now she knows that LUXEN, ARUM, ALIENS, are absolutely real and not just exist in the books she's reading. With the alien mojo Daemon was able to transfer to her every time he's saving her, she becomes the target to the ARUM. She needs to stick with Daemon to protect her as well as to avoid calling the attention of DOD. And that's when their bumpy-ride to HEA began.

KATY 'Kitten' SWARTZ

Wow. I like her name. Makes me think of a teenager version of Katy Perry. Beautiful. Haha. I adore her. I can totally relate to her. She's a blogger, loves to read books (esp PNR). I can even think of her as my best friend. Haha. A good friend, a loving daughter, a sassy heroine and a goner to Daemon! (THIS, we're absolutely alike- A LOT!)

DAEMON BLACK

This pretend 17-yearl-old hot as the sun ALIEN named DAEMON BLACK took my breath and heart away. The moment he opened the door half-naked I was a goner. Yum. Yum. Yum. I love him. He totally makes me forget my fang-baring, sexy mates and human dominants when I get to know him. Even the thought that I'm reading YA vanishes from my mind as I'm getting deeply acquainted with him. Holy Trinity of Hot Boys! That's what he is. There's nothing sweet that comes out of his mouth but you'll find yourself sucked into his character. (sigh) Deep. Hard. So much. It hurts. x

MY REVIEW:

This book is PURE YA GOLD! I absolutely love it. From chapter 1 up the last. No boring moments, scenes, convo's. All are read-worthy, highly-anticipated, and definitely a page-turner. The plot is amazingly-writtern. The twist is very original. The characters are lovable and drool-worthy (pointing to Daemon!). The hero makes me want to slap-kick him, then kiss him senseless after. Haha. He's so annoyingly handsome yet sweet (in his I hate you but I want you way) The lines and conversations are witty and makes me smile all through-out.
The word KITTEN. OMFG. Before Daemon, I effin hate that word. After knowing Daemon, hot damn. I want to be called KITTEN by this hot alien guy. Darn. It makes me feel giddy.
Then there's this thing about PEN and POKING. LOL. Makes me smile every time Daemon did it during Math class. Soo cute. AHHHH. ~
And let's not forget the SEXUAL CHEMISTRY and TENSION. Did I mention tension? tension? tension? WAAAH. It's so frustrating. Every scene wherein it oozes of sexual tension bet the H/h makes me hold my breath and anticipate the yummy details that would follow only to find out nothing will happen. Haha. Huhu. And when I thought I can't take it anymore, the infamous laptop scene happened and OMFG. It was like a nuclear bomb explodes right in front of me. Soooo good. Sooo explosive. Sooo hot. Sooo sexy. Soo orgasmic. Soo worth the wait. It's only making out (not yet the actual thing-but it made me wish it was). I know it will happen-- SOON. But nevertheless it is definitely satisfying.

Need I say more? READ it NOW.

"Why are you such an ass?" The words came out before I could think twice.
"Everyone has to excel at something, right?"

- Daemon

Daemon: I checked out your blog.
Katy: Stalking me again, I see. Do I need to get a restraining order?
Daemon: In your dreams, Kitten. Oh wait, I'm already starring in those, aren't I?
Katy: Nightmares, Daemon. Nightmares

"If she was mine, I'd cherish every inch of her. And I wanted to. Now."
